Master Pie Maker

I haven't posted this week because Jonathan has been on call for work. On call weeks are always hard on the whole family and we just try to survive until it is over.

Wednesday Deklan got it in his head that he wanted to make an apple pie. So trying to lift every one's spirits I went to the store to gather apple pie ingredients. I have never made an apple pie and don't know how to make pie crust so I cheated and got a frozen one. I didn't have to do very much work because Deklan did all the work to make the pie. Including all the peeling and cutting of the apples--thank you apple peeler/corer/slicer!

Here he is before the pie went into the oven. He has on his apron that grandma Mary made him for Christmas (you can't tell in this picture but it has his name on the front). When we were done he said he wanted a puffy bakers hat!

Our finished masterpiece!

Great job! Deklan's crust reminds me of a pie I recently made . . . except that I know that underneath Deklan's fluffy pastry is a dish filled with apples, cinnamon and nutmeg. MY pie, on the other hand, rose up nice and high because I forgot to prick it before baking! Whoops!

I was way behind on blog reading so we got our internet hooked up and I caught up tonight. Thanks for keeping me supplied with pics of the boys and their adventures! You're doing a great job so keep it up!
